Coach's Corner

Head Coach P.J Gondek

Q: How does the squad look so far?
A: The squad has really been coming together nicely. We are all looking forward to playing in our first regular season game. We should be very solid defensively and need our key offensive players to perform.

Q: What do you know about your first opponent St. John Fisher?
A: Don't know a lot, being that this is their first game also. Last year wasn't their best season, but they had a tough schedule and were competitive in almost every game. They are generally a strong team in the Empire 8 conference.

Q: Not looking too far ahead, but what do you think about playing University of Rochester Saturday?
A: It's always exciting to play a team the caliber of Rochester, but right now the focus is on the game at hand. The goal of the tournament is for us to win both games and that starts with our game Thursday against St. John Fisher

Q: Who do you expect to step up this season?
A: Our defense and goalie are very experienced as it is comprised of four senior players in David Thoin, Luke Spencer, Rejean Archambeault and Bobby McGinnis and one junior in Matt Schreon. Some guys we are really looking for to make plays offensively are Luke Tylutki, Mathew Grabowski, Jake Persons, and Cory Paine. In the midfield we expect Tyler Williams and Ryan Smith to control the middle of the field.

Q: How does the competition in the SUNYAC look this season?
A: I would say that Oneonta enters the season with the most experience. You have to expect the usual top teams of Geneseo, Brockport, and Plattsburg to be very competitive. I also think that Potsdam has an opportunity to surprise some teams this year. It will be very exciting to see how this year will play out in league play.
