More than 400 fans came out to support the Fredonia for Saint Jude Club and the Blue Devils soccer team as they took on the Westminster Titans. The groups joined forces to create a very unique fundraiser called "Text for a Cure" to benefit St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. By simply texting the word "HERO" to 50333 on September 27th anyone could have made a five dollar donation to the St. Jude.
The event was filled with lots of entertainment and a 2-1 comeback victory for the Blue Devils to topped off the night. The Blue Devils trailed 1-0 at halftime, but the 2nd half proved to be a different story. Senior forward Cory Paine tied the game in the 60th minute with his first goal of the season. Sophomore forward Jake Persons was credited with an assist on the play. Junior midfielder, Tyler Williams then scored what would prove to be the game-winning goal off of a long pass with only 1:07 left in the game. The Blue Devils improved their record to 7-4 and rebound after a tough road SUNYAC weekend with losses to Geneseo and Brockport.
